1.11 - 2.11.2012
1.11.2012
We were doing multimedia presentation on computers at day. In the afternoon we went to Auvila for snacks.
2.11.2012
Some people finished their presentations in the morning. We watched the videos with some other students from the school in middday and after that we went to eat at Kisälli. At the restaurant there were Finnish three meal course. Dessert was best, because the other courses were too bitter.

Farawell & Last day
We had a farawell party at Auvila campus on thursday after school day. We mostly just talked and ate chicken salad and stuff. Some of us played board games. So, nothing much to say.

Even though we had a farawell at thursday, we still came to school at friday. We presented our multimedia presentation to A LOTS of people. We had a little difficulties at first.. and the presentation was still horrible in my opinion. Some of the clips were missing music and they were all messed up and ASDASFDGFGHj.
But yeah. After that we went to Kisälli and ate some farawell food. I guess it tried to be "traditional" finnish foods, but I didn't like most of the .. stuffs.
I don't think we have any pictures of that friday on our L-drive. :(

First after report
To inform you all, we have had quite a nice flight, no technical problems.. but thats all nice about it, my room looks like shambles, I am just staring at our photos from Finland and have no idea who will actually clean this all up...
Don´t know how about you but I am really sorry that the exchange was only for two weeks...

Farewell party
We had a farewell party.
Mämmi, bread cheese and some good salad.
We didn't have so much plannings, but I think it was fun. It also brought us closer as a class, or something like that.

26.10.2012-Field trip to Jyväskylä
Field trip to Jyväskylä, Part I
Today, it was time for the long awaited trip to Jyväskylä. the Bus came to our school grounds at 8.40 Am, and the trip only took about thirty minutes, so we had plenty of time reserved for Jyväskylä. We arrived at viitaniemi campus and started to take a look around. the First thing we noticed was how big the school actually seemed when comparing to ours. We quickly made our way in to one of the (many) IT-classrooms and started doing an assigned task with a 3D modeling program. The Czechs were much more familiar with that type of programs than were, so we let them do all the "hard work" (hehe). After the modeling phase, we all went into the workshop and watched as an engineer used the machinery in the workshop to make the exact same model piece from a lump of metal. Yeah, it was pretty cool.
Checkin' out the machinery
After that was done we went for the school cafeteria to have ourselves some lunch. I was astonished by the amount of different foods and spices that you could choose from. Needless to say, I enjoyed that lunch very much. When we had filled our stomachs, it was time to go and visit the Jyväskylä University campus, but I will save that story for the next blog.

The joy of making a multimedia presentation
I love making the multimedia presentation. I love how the software just wants to make the production a big pain in the neck.
Here's a couple of things to remember when putting a video together:
1) Don't use Videopad
2) Repeat step 1.
It's easy to use and the interface is pleasant, but the rendering is horrible. It renders 70% of the clips to a still image collage, and despite that it takes a half hour to render. Nobody has a clue why it does that, but it just does.
And by the way, my project file has already corrupted itself twice. I love that too.

30.10. Tuesday
We were at the ICT-class in the morning, Finns and Czech students and also the finnish ICT students. We just watched the czech do some ict stuff, and I think we were supposed to learn something too..
So nothing special in the morning, at least not to finnish students.
Vili and I (Marianne) tried to talk to the new french guy, but we had a little bit trouble with english language. Well not Vili and I, but the french guy didn't really speak english well.
Soon after that, the other went to process classrooms, and Vili and I stayed in the ICT-class with the czechs.
We just watched the students install Ubuntu. Mostly no one paid attention to that, I think. We just talked about videogames.
In the evening we went to auditorium and watched the cultural exchange presentation about Czech. After that we showed some stupid finnish videos to them again. Oh, and before that they showed some Czech videos to us too.
They didn't appreciate the "Tonnin seteli" :P

In the morning we took a bus ride to Isojärvi. When we got there we got fruits and juice for the trip. Then we went for a long walk, while stopping several times, until a coffee break. After the break our final destination was only 2 kilometres ahead. We stopped to eat near the end. At the end of the trip we returned to school by bus.

On Monday we were in Isojärvi, a finnish national park. We were hiking through forestes and around beautiful lakes. We really enjoyed it, it was just spectacular.

Monday at Isojärvi national park
First we started to walk in the park and after a while we finally arrived to the first stop where we got coffee and had a moment to rest before walking to the final destination.
Personally I didn't really like the coffee that much, but i think it was because i usually use like 5 spoons of sugar per coffee cup and this time we didn't have any sugar so the coffee was too bitter for me.
After the rest we started walking again and it was little be more difficult path than before, but we all made it, except our group got little lost and walked to the bus when we were trying to find the place where we were supposed to have the meal, but we found it eventually and then we walked back to the bus and left.
It was quite interesting day and when i got home i was exhausted.

Sightseeing at Jämsä and Jämsänkoski
23.10 we were taking the chezh students to sightseeing tour through Jämsä and Jämsänkoski.
We visited Vanha Mylly, Ilveslinna (Lynx castle), Jämsä's church, but the doors were locked so we couldn't see it from the inside.
We stopped to Vitikkala mansion and drank some coffee there. One of the chezhs bought nice ear rings to her girlfriend (I think they were for his girlfriend :D) and someone's gonna get luckyy..
We continued our journey to Kivipankki (Stone bank) and went to see the Jämsä river and it's sights. We were a little cold again, but we managed. :P
One chezh student played piano beautifully in the Stone bank. He deserved a good applause.

I think this picture is from the Lynx castle, I'm not sure. :D
And I think the chezhs were more excited about the mushrooms at the Jämsä river, than the sights..

Icebreaker day
Icebreaker day - 22.10.2012
Roope Salminen
the First day with our Czech guests started out kind of slow. As our first task we had to make them familiar with our school grounds. After that, it was pretty much lunch time already. After lunch was over we were given an assignment from our teacher. We had to make a map and a stamp card for the halloween event that was scheduled for the following weekend. It was a somewhat basic assignment because there were so many of us.
Our icebreaker group working together.
Here you can see us working our butts off.
After all the "hard" work we finally went to the icebreaker event...
We had to do some pretty weird stuff..
|
Here are some more pictures of our crazy adventures..
22. - 23.10.
22.10.
We went through our schedule in the morning. After that we went to auditorium, where we met with the Czech students. There we had our multimedia videos and pictures presented to the Czechs.
And after some time the Czechs presented us a video about their school, they also presented a powerpoint which had some information about themselves.
After lunch, our group (group 3) moved to another classroom, where we got started on a halloween project. Our team had been assigned to make a map.
In the evening the class and the Czech students gathered in Auvila for the Icebreaker.
23.10.
We started with presenting the maps and stamp lists of the Halloween project. After that our group (group 3) gathered in another classroom, where we finished our map. After finishing it, we started working on the stamp list, which we also finished using the same style as we did in the map.
We had out works presented in the front of the class once again, and we had good feedback.
After this the Czechs left to a sightseeingtour, while we stayed behind in the classroom, writing this blog.

Long monday
In the morning after students from Czech came to our school we made groups and started working together in project called Kauhujen kaupunki or The city of horrors. The group 4 was to make stamp cards for the event which turned out to be quite nice except the background was too dark and we had it changed.
In the evening we had some games and here is picture of game called Balloon race. In balloon race you have to get the balloon with your team mate to the 2 other team mates without touching the balloon with your hands.
Then it was time to get some hot pancakes to help to warm up as it was getting quite cold outside.
That was unusually long monday and I believe none had any trouble to get some sleep.
22.10. Monday
